Clothing that Flatters Your Shape: Cone Shape

The Cone Shape

With this body shape, your upper body is broad and the rest of your body is slimmer. The key to dressing this shape is to draw the eye to the bottom half of your body and minimize the upper half.

Dresses- Find dresses that flare out at the bottom and are fitted at the top. Tulip skirts and color blocked dresses (dark on top and light on bottom) are ideal for you. Don’t wear pencil skirts! This will only make your upper body appear extremely large. Pencil skirts are slimming and you don’t need to slim down what is already slim.

Tops- Steer clear of anything with shoulder pads. Don’t wear too many structured blazers because these will only bring more attention to your broad shoulders. Try wearing neutral tops that don’t have busy patterns. You will make yourself look bigger than what you really are if you do. Button down shirts are not very flattering on your body type because they can look boxy. Feminine blouses are what you should be wearing. To bring attention to your waist, look for tops that have a thin belt or a back tie.

Pants – Aren’t you lucky! You can wear any style of pant or jean that you want. Wide legged, boot cut, and slim fit are all great options for you. Just stay away from pants that are bell bottom like. They will take away from your hips. Skinny jeans are a great jean for you.
