Best Foundation for Women of Color: IMAN

For the past few months I have been experimenting with different foundations. MAC’s Studio Tech used to be my holy grail until I discovered IMAN’S Second to None Cream to Powder Foundation for just $16. This was about half of what I was paying for MAC. This foundation is AMAZING!

I was breaking out from MAC’s Studio Tech so I thought I’d look for better options. I was in ULTA one day and there it was in a little corner. I swatched it against my jaw line and it went on like butter. The first day I put on a full face of the foundation, I couldn’t believe how well it blended into my skin. It is very matte and it doesn’t make me look ashy or like a corpse. I also wasn’t an oil slick by the end of the day. I set my foundation with blotting powder and a little bronzer but it truly doesn’t need it. This foundation is also full coverage, but you don’t even need to use a lot of it in order for it to cover what you’d like.

This foundation did not cause me to break out and I don’t feel like it’s clogging my pores like I did with studio tech. There is a vast array of colors for women of color in this line and I was not stressed out trying to match my tone. It comes with a sponge at the bottom of the container, but I’d rather use a beauty blender sponge or a sponge that’s dense. The one it comes with is a little flimsy. Other than that, I don’t have any complaints! I plan on using this foundation for a while. IMAN has other types of foundations, but I can’t vouch for them. I have only tried the cream to powder and so far it has been lovely. I even tried going back to MAC’s Studio Tech and I realized that it couldn’t compete. I was oily and I even had a pimple on my chin after just two days of use.

My foundation color in the second to none cream to powder foundation is Sand 4 and I was a NC43 in MAC’s Studio Tech. I also purchased a bronzer from IMAN’s line and it is also SAND. Her bronzers are meant to match with your skin tone. The bronzers are called SAND, CLAY and EARTH, just like the foundation. I love the bronzer. It is very light and glows beautifully. A little goes a long way! I purchased my IMAN products at ULTA, but when I went back for more, I was told that the store was discontinuing the line. Currently, IMAN’s products are on sale at ULTA for 50% of the original $16 price. It’s definitely a steal, but sadly they no longer have my foundation shade. I now purchase my foundation at Walgreens, but I order online. Even with shipping and handling, it is still cheaper than MAC. Hopefully, you can find your perfect match at ULTA! Stock up ladies, you’ll thank me later 😉

List of Retailers:
